"One Day In History"

On this day, the 17th of October 2006, I had a very good day. I worked at home paying my bills and tiding up my home. I also spent some of my time working on my family history---genealogy. I couldn't agree more with the statement of this website "History Matters.....Pass It On." Here is the link for the website: History Matters...Pass it On.

I do not live in the UK, but visited there this summer and had a delightful time. I went there with my children so that we could see some of the places where our ancestors were from. Unfortunately, I was too nervous to drive on the left side of the road and we were not able to do everything that we had set out to accomplish. I look at it this way....I have another reason to come back.

Turmoil is a common occurrence in our world these days. I wish that we as a human race would learn from our past mistakes and learn to live in harmony and peace. I think that one of the reasons that we have such turmoil is that we have forgotten where we are from. I belong to an email list and one of the people has a little note at the bottom of each of their emails that states: "You don't know who you are until you know who and where you are from." I don't know if that is the exact wording, but I am sure that you understand the statement. Our predecessors have given so much to us in this life that I think it would be a great honor to them if we would learn from our past and try to improve upon ourselves and the world around us. I recently had the opportunity to have my 86 year old mother out visiting with my family. It was a wonderful and treasured time that I will always treasure.

One last thing, I think that at times, we all forget to slow down and smell the roses so to speak. We all get on this fast track we call life and forget to live. We are so concerned about getting to the next appointment, complete the next task, that we forget to live and enjoy life. Remember that half the battle of life is learning to enjoy the ride. Life is not always about the destination.

Hello.
I just got back from the volley-ball game at the college. They won.

I agree with your wish to have a world of piece, but it is not likely to occur in our life time. There are way to many evil people who put power before personal integrity, and morality. Until we as a country demand personal responsibility for actions, ethical and moral behavior from ourselves and those who lead us we will never lead the world and will never be able to be the example we should be. I doubt it will ever happen because the we are now to the point were we are "calling good evil and evil good"
Oh well, I guess the only thing we can do is try to have a sphere of influence that is positive and reach on star fish at a time. It will make a difference to "that one"

John,

I am glad that you stopped by and read my blog. I am trying to improve my writing skills and this blog is one of those attempts.

I agree that all we can do is to be a positive influence on those people that surround us. If we all did that then I think the world would be a better place, but I guess that idea is the little Pollyanna in me. :-)
